About TDL Group<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

TDL Group is a Belgian transport company built around the construction industry, moving building materials across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Northern France. The fleet is anything but one-size-fits-all \u2013 flatbed trailers for prefab production, self-unloading crane trailers, and everything in between, organised into dedicated dispatch groups by vehicle type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the core building materials business, TDL also runs a logistics division, handling distribution for clients like a Belgian clothing company using standard box trailers and pallets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late 2024, TDL sold off part of the business \u2013 four warehouses that handled fresh and frozen goods logistics. The sale shifted the company’s focus to construction and dedicated transport, and reshaped exactly what they needed from a TMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How TDL found Qargo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

TDL had already been searching for a new TMS with a built-in warehouse management system \u2014 a search that became unnecessary once the warehouse business was sold. Around the same time, TDL’s IT partner, TLCC, who had already come across Qargo through another client, suggested taking a closer look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before Qargo, TDL was running on a heavily customised Microsoft Dynamics ERP dating back to 2009 \u2013 hosted on-premises, and increasingly difficult to maintain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The real pressure point came when Microsoft discontinued support for their version in 2025, putting TDL on the clock to migrate. Despite having a system in place, a lot of the operation still ran on paper. Dispatch was done entirely on paper before being manually re-entered into the ERP at the end of the day \u2013 with trips built without live ETAs or tracking, requiring a separate browser just to follow trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0It was a lot of loose pieces that came together and worked for many years. But it was not fully optimal. We were doing the same order three times over \u2013 repetitive copy-and-paste work.\u00a0\u00bb – Kenneth Ferson \u2014 Planner<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proof of delivery was also a manual process: paper PODs, physically posted to customers, with nothing digital in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Integrations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

TDL rebuilt its entire systems stack alongside the Qargo rollout rather than keeping the old ERP for anything:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Trimble<\/strong> \u2014 telematics and driver tablets, feeding live location data into Qargo and letting drivers photograph PODs on-site, which appear in Qargo immediately instead of arriving by post days later. Trimble also drives driver hours registration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • GPS<\/strong> \u2014 connected directly into Qargo to manage driver availability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Microsoft Business Central<\/strong> \u2014 the new home for finance and accounting, replacing the old all-in-one ERP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • EDI connection<\/strong> \u2014 used with a major customer to send shipment statuses back into their TMS platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • BBT<\/strong> (garage and fleet management) \u2014 an integration in progress, aimed at consolidating what’s currently spread across two or three separate platforms into one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Onboarding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    TDL signed with Qargo in December and was live by April \u2014 a four-month implementation. The contrast with their own history was stark: an earlier attempt to migrate to a cloud TMS had run for a year and a half before being scrapped entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The team worked through a sandbox environment to test configurations before go-live, with Qargo’s team on-site for the go-live week itself and returning a few more times afterwards for fine-tuning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u00ab\u00a0Michiel was really capable. He also came from a transport background, so he knew transport through and through. That helped.\u00a0\u00bb \u2013 Mathijs Biesmans \u2013 Project Lead \/ IT<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The clearest change is in the admin workload. What used to require six full-time staff now takes three (one of them part-time) \u2013 everything runs digitally, PODs land directly in the Qargo order and can be sent to clients by email in a couple of clicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Dispatching moved from Excel spreadsheets rebuilt manually in the old ERP to a live drag-and-drop system in Qargo, with routes calculated automatically and the right information reaching dispatchers immediately instead of after a chain of manual steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    TDL are already using Qargo’s rules-based workflow triggers to automate parts of the process, and are in active contact with the Qargo team as they scale into more of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The customer portal is live with a couple of clients so far, with more onboarding underway. TDL is candid that construction customers can be a tough audience for digital adoption \u2013 many still work from Excel with no systems to integrate \u2013 but they’re encouraging smaller clients to use the portal for invoice and POD queries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    \u2705 Admin headcount halved<\/strong> \u2014 from six full-time staff to three (one part-time), with everything now handled digitally instead of manually re-entered
    \u2705 One fewer dispatcher needed<\/strong> \u2014 despite handling more volume, thanks to automated routing and drag-and-drop planning
    \u2705 30\u201340% revenue growth in a single month<\/strong> (vs. the same month the previous year) \u2013 achieved with the same team size across admin, dispatch, and invoicing
    \u2705 PODs delivered digitally and instantly<\/strong> \u2014 drivers photograph PODs on tablets via the Trimble integration, replacing paper originals mailed by post
    \u2705 Live in 4 months<\/strong> \u2014 compared to a previous 18-month system migration that was ultimately scrapped
    \u2705 Consolidated tech stack<\/strong> \u2014 moved from one monolithic, custom-built ERP to a connected set of agile systems via APIs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What’s next?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    TDL is continuing to roll out its remaining integrations and gradually extending the customer portal to smaller clients \u2014 while getting ready to lean more heavily on Qargo’s AI features as the business grows into them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u00ab\u00a0You go to a lot of software companies and try to tell them what you want, and they don’t understand it correctly \u2014 so they build something that only does 80% of what you need. That’s the good part about Qargo: there’s enough transport background there that they understand your requirements.
