Qargo is a future-proof system that makes automation very easy. – Lennart Van ’t Kruis, Manager, Van ’t Kruis

Van't Kruis Truck

About Van ‘t Kruis

Van ‘t Kruis is a fourth-generation, family-owned logistics company with more than 100 years of history. Based in the Netherlands, they specialise in bulk and container transport, moving essential goods like animal feed and high-quality steel.

The company operates a fleet of 30 trucks, container, tipper, and bulk, and continues to be run by the Kruis family, with Lennart, his father, and his brother at the helm.

We’re 101 years old and still family-run. Together with my father and brother, we manage the business hands-on.

How they found Qargo

Lennart first discovered Qargo at a logistics conference in Utrecht, where he met our friendly business development team including Olivier Warmerdam.

“I was curious about new technology for our company. Olivier showed me Qargo and I was impressed with how future-proof it was.”

At the time, Van ’t Kruis’s server-based TMS was limiting growth. It lacked automation, order import capabilities, and crucial data insights. The Kruis family team needed a modern, cloud-based solution that could evolve with them.

Onboarding

Switching systems is never easy, but Van ’t Kruis embraced the change with Qargo.

“The onboarding was intense, but in a good way. Having someone with us for two full days was very helpful, especially as we’re not a technical family.”

Qargo’s onboarding manager guided the team step by step, making sure both drivers and planners could adapt quickly.

The challenge

Van ’t Kruis’s previous legacy TMS was holding the business back.

It ran on servers with no cloud access, offered no way to automatically import orders or capture real-time driver feedback, and forced the team to manually scan every CMR and document. On top of that, the system provided little data to support planning or pricing decisions. Leaving the Van ‘t Kruis team without the insights they needed to run efficiently.

Our old system couldn’t give us the insights or automation we needed. It felt outdated.

The solution

With Qargo, Van ’t Kruis replaced outdated manual processes with modern, automated workflows that save time and give the team greater control. Drivers, planners, and the back office now work from one connected platform, making daily ops smoother and more transparent.

  • Planning: more accurate and transparent, with drivers able to see schedules on Sundays for the week ahead in their driver mobile app.
  • Document handling: no more manual scanning; drivers upload CMRs instantly.
  • Accounting: subcontractor invoices and credit notes flow directly into Exact Online.
  • Communication: planners and drivers now collaborate in the Qargo TMS app instead of relying on different chat platforms.
  • AI features: Qargo Intelligence supports faster order entry and invoicing.

“POD synchronising is the best. Drivers upload instantly and everything is in the system.”

The results

✅ Planning is simplified. Drivers see schedules earlier & planners gain more control

✅ Document admin has been cut drastically – no scanning a mountain of paperwork

✅ Accounting is automated as invoices sync and save hours every week

✅ Communication is streamlined with integrated planning board & mobile driver app

“Qargo is a future-proof system that makes automation very easy.”

What’s next?

Van ’t Kruis plans to deepen their use of Qargo’s analytics features and further automate pricing and reporting. They’re also watching Qargo’s development closely, eager to see more features tailored to specialist bulk operators.

“We know Qargo is still developing, and we like that. It means we can help shape the system as it grows.”

Final thoughts

Lennart’s message to other transport companies considering Qargo is straightforward:

“Just do it.”

He stresses the importance of committing to the onboarding process, because that’s where the long-term benefits begin.

Take the time to focus on onboarding. Having someone with you all day to guide the change makes a huge difference.
